Eoin Plunkett

Biography

A brother of the executed leader of the Easter Rising, Joseph Plunkett, Eoin Plunkett served in the General Post Office as a member of the Irish Volunteers. After the Rising he was sentenced to death by the court martial, but his sentence was commuted to ten years imprisonment. He served his sentence in Portland, Lewes and Parkhurst prisons before his release in 1917. He was active in the War of Independence and on the anti-Treaty side in the Civil War.
