James Mallon

Biography

A barber, and section commander in B Company in the 3rd Dublin Battalion of the Irish Volunteers, James Mallon was stationed in Boland’s Mill during the Easter Rising. Interned in Wakefield Prison and Frongoch camp until December 1916, he rejoined the Volunteers and participated in the War of Independence until his arrest in December 1920. He was interned in Ballykinlar camp until December 1921 and subsequently fought with the National Army during the Civil War, rising to the rank of lieutenant.
