Andrew Furlong

Biography

Furlong joined the Kimmage garrison from London in 1915 and was stationed in the Metropole Hotel during the Easter Rising. He was wounded in the leg on Friday evening after his ammunition pouch exploded. He participated in the War of Independence, serving for a period in the staff of Michael Collins. Fighting with the National Army during the Civil War, he was wounded in Roscrea on 13th October 1922, dying two days later.
