Edward Joyce joined the Irish Citizen Army (ICA) in 1913 and was a member of the St. Stephen’s Green garrison during the Easter Rising. He was a part of a detachment led by Captain Richard McCormack which briefly occupied the Harcourt Street Railway Station at the beginning of the week. He was interned in Stafford Jail until July 1916 and continued to be involved with the ICA until 1918.
