J.J. Walsh

Biography

JJ Walsh was a member of the Hibernian Rifles and served in the General Post Office during Easter week. He was sentenced to death by the 1916 court martial, but this was commuted to a life sentence. He was imprisoned until his release under an amnesty in 1917. He was elected as TD for Cork in the 1918 elections and held his seat until he resigned in 1927. He served as Minister for Posts and Telegraph in the Cumann na nGaedheal government in the 1920s.
